"Sound as the comet's tail - impressions from the 'PianoPlus' Music Festival in the ZKM"
“The sound of the piano separated into its elements of colour, accompanied by a dimension of electronics that probes the limits of what is possible in this constellation: after the impressive opening, also the other concerts in the ZKM ‘PianoPlus’ Festival took up the challenges ranging from intensification to distortion, from blending to independence. For example, in Marco Stroppa’s “Traiettoria” (played by Ulrich Roman Murtfeld): tension peaks in this work when electronics and piano meet at a point of centrifugal dispersion: the colours blur, but the character of the other sound in each case always remains intact. The computer amplifies the reverbation of the higher octaves and, in relation to the sound of the piano, has the effect of the tail in relation to the comet.”
